La stagione degli Emmy è ufficialmente iniziata con l’annuncio delle nomination per la 77ª edizione dei Primetime Emmy Awards, rivelate martedì in diretta streaming da Brenda Song e Harvey Guillén, affiancati dal presidente della Television Academy Cris Abrego, che ha sottolineato un’affluenza record al voto.
La cerimonia, che si terrà il 14 settembre al Peacock Theater di Los Angeles, sarà condotta dal comico Nate Bargatze e trasmessa in diretta su CBS e Paramount+.
Dominano Apple TV+ e HBO Max
Quest’anno, Apple TV+ si impone con due titoli di punta: “Severance” (27 nomination), che guida la categoria drama, e “The Studio” (23 nomination), prima nella comedy.
Quest’ultima ha eguagliato il record di “The Bear” per il maggior numero di nomination comedy in un singolo anno. HBO Max, tuttavia, mantiene la corona come rete più nominata con 142 candidature, grazie a titoli forti come “The Penguin”, “The White Lotus”, “The Last of Us” e “Hacks”.
Il ritorno di Noah Wyle e altri outsider
Tra le novità più intriganti, la serie HBO Max “The Pitt” potrebbe finalmente valere a Noah Wyle (cinque nomination mai premiate dai tempi di “ER”) il tanto atteso Emmy. Menzione speciale anche per la star di “Matlock” Kathy Bates, che a 77 anni diventa la donna più anziana mai nominata come miglior attrice protagonista in un drama.
Comedy: tra nuovi arrivati e colossi
Sul fronte commedia, oltre a “The Studio”, tornano i favoriti come “Hacks”, vincitore in carica, e “The Bear”, con le sue 21 vittorie già collezionate. “Abbott Elementary” mira a rafforzare la sua posizione nel settore broadcast, mentre “Only Murders in the Building” cerca la sua consacrazione definitiva dopo le nomination per il trio Martin-Short-Gomez.
Miniserie, reality e talk show: sfide accese
Nella categoria miniserie o antologiche, spiccano “The Penguin” (HBO Max), “Adolescence” (Netflix), e il ritorno di “Black Mirror”. Sul fronte reality, “The Traitors” punta a replicare il successo del 2024, ma dovrà vedersela con veterani come “The Amazing Race” e “RuPaul’s Drag Race”.
Per i talk show, la concorrenza si restringe a tre: “The Daily Show”, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” e “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”, con l’assenza di “Late Night with Seth Meyers” a fare notizia.
Nuove regole, addio a “guest ricorrenti”
Una delle modifiche al regolamento più discusse riguarda le categorie degli attori ospiti: chi ha già vinto o è stato nominato per lo stesso ruolo in categorie principali non potrà più essere considerato “guest” in futuro. Una norma che chiude definitivamente il capitolo “Queen Elizabeth” di Claire Foy in “The Crown”.
Con 600 serie in gara e 228 candidature complessive, gli Emmy 2025 si preannunciano come un evento epico, tra record infranti, ritorni inaspettati e nuove stelle pronte a brillare.
