MTV VMA 2025: Damiano David debutta con due nomination

Lady Gaga guida le nomination agli MTV Video Music Awards 2025 con ben 12 candidature, ma tra i nomi che stanno attirando l’attenzione c’è anche Damiano David, frontman dei Måneskin, che per la prima volta concorre da solista agli ambitissimi premi.

Il cantante italiano riceve due nomination:

• PUSH Performance of the Year,

• Miglior video long format per “Funny Little Stories”,
  il suo primo progetto interamente solista, un mini-film musicale di oltre dieci minuti che racconta una storia intima e malinconica ispirata ai suoi viaggi tra Los Angeles e Roma.

Si tratta di un debutto importante per Damiano, che dopo aver conquistato il mondo con i Måneskin, ora si fa strada come artista indipendente con uno stile personale e più introspettivo.

Funny Little Stories ha già ricevuto elogi dalla critica per il suo approccio narrativo e cinematografico, e la nomination nella categoria long format conferma la sua ambizione di superare i confini del videoclip tradizionale.

Lady Gaga torna regina, ma la competizione è accesa

Lady Gaga è in cima alla lista con 12 nomination, grazie soprattutto al successo del duetto Die With a Smile con Bruno Mars (che ha ricevuto 11 nomination) e al brano Abracadabra, tratto dal suo ultimo album Mayhem.

Subito dietro, Kendrick Lamar ottiene 10 nomination, mentre Sabrina Carpenter e Rosé si attestano a 8.

Tra gli altri grandi nomi in gara:

• Ariana Grande e The Weeknd con 7 nomination,

• Billie Eilish (6),

• Charli XCX (5),

• e un folto gruppo di artisti con 4 nomination ciascuno, tra cui Ed Sheeran, Miley Cyrus, Doechii, Bad Bunny e Jelly Roll.

Molti artisti solisti fanno il loro debutto ai VMA quest’anno, tra cui Jennie, Jimin, Jisoo, e proprio Damiano David, che ha attirato l’attenzione internazionale con uno stile visivo audace e una narrativa personale nei suoi videoclip.

Una nuova era per gli MTV VMA

La cerimonia dei VMA 2025 sarà trasmessa in prima serata su CBS per la prima volta nella storia, il 7 settembre alle 20:00 ET / 17:00 PT, in diretta dall’UBS Arena di New York. Lo show sarà disponibile anche su MTV e in streaming su Paramount+ (solo per abbonati Premium).

La CBS punta a un evento di grande richiamo, con 33 artisti alla loro prima nomination e l’introduzione di nuove categorie, tra cui Miglior Artista Pop e Miglior Country, per abbracciare un pubblico più ampio e diversificato.

Il pubblico decide

Le votazioni dei fan sono aperte su vote.mtv.com in 19 categorie gender-neutral fino al 5 settembre, alle ore 18:00 ET. La categoria “Miglior Nuovo Artista” resterà aperta per tutta la durata della diretta.

Con un progetto solista profondo e visivamente potente, Damiano David ha tutte le carte in regola per sorprendere. E chissà, forse anche per portare a casa uno dei premi più ambiti della musica internazionale.
